Nicolaus Zangius

Nicholas Zangius (* 1570 in Woltersdorf, † 1619 in Berlin) was a German composer.

Zangius Wolter was born in the village as the son of a pastor. 1597 he worked as a conductor at the episcopal and princely court in Iburg. In 1599 he moved to Gdansk as a representation of the diseased Kapellmeister Johann Wannings. 1602 the office was conferred on him. In addition, he was the brother Christopherbank the Artus Court. In the same year he fled from the plague to Prague where he worked as court servants of the Emperor. 1607 he returned to Danzig. From 1612 to 1619 he held the office of court Kapellmeister in Berlin.
