Nicole Petignat

Nicole Petignat ( born October 27, 1966 in La Chaux -de-Fonds ) is a former Swiss football referee. She finished on 1 December 2008 their active career, which culminated in the management of the endgame of the soccer Women's World Cup 1999.

Life

Nicole Petignat grew in all of the Canton of Jura and visited as a 17- year-old high school student, together with her twin sister Dominique secretly a Referee course. Two years later she joined the Conservatory of Lausanne and then worked as a music teacher. In addition, she was active sports in ice hockey, handball, volleyball and football. She was the managing director of the Union of National League umpire from 1983 to 1985 and played himself in the National League A Women.

In 1991 she married the Moroccan footballer Mohammed Mouidi (FC Wil ) and lived with him first in Sigigen and later in Gossau. From summer 2000 until mid-May 2007, she was romantically involved with former referee Urs Meier and lived with him and his two children in Würenlos and later in watts ZH.

It is one of the few women who initiated in the men's game in the highest professional league games, including in the Swiss Super League and the Austrian Bundesliga. On August 14, 2003, she was the first woman in a UEFA Cup match of the men in action ( first leg to qualify for the UEFA Cup between AIK Solna and ÍF Fylkir ). She was also referee the World Cup final game of the ladies between the U.S. and China at the World Women's World Cup 1999 and the endgame of the European Football Championship Women 2001 between Germany and Sweden.

On 1 December 2008 Petignat went immediately back as referee. Since then, the physiotherapist acts with two private practice as a wheelchair basketball trainer at CFR Jura in Delémont.
