Nicolò Pacassi

Nikolaus Franz Leonhard von Pacassi ( born March 5, 1716 in Wiener Neustadt, † November 11, 1790 in Vienna, but also Nicolò Pacassi or Paccassi ) was an Austro- Italian architect of the Baroque and Early Classical.

Life

1753 Nicholas Pacassi was the successor of Jean Nicolas Jadot de Ville- Issey head of Hofbauamtes. All major construction projects have to do with the imperial court. This mainly includes the conversion of Schönbrunn Palace and the planning of the Redoute Hall tract in the Hofburg, and the construction and Baroque reconstruction of parts of the Prague Castle. In October 1772, he retired at his own request to the service of Hofbauamtes and then worked until his death only as a consultant. Besides his work as an architect, he was since 1756 also professor at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome.

1764 Pacassi was nobility in 1769 to knighthood, in a baron.

1922 Pacassistrasse in Vienna Hietzing was named after him.
