Nicotinate-nucleotide diphosphorylase (carboxylating)
- OMIM: 606 248
- UniProt: Q15274
With quinolinate phosphoribosyltransferase ( QPRT ) is the enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of a ribose molecule to quinolinic acid. This reaction is a sub-step in the biosynthesis of NAD, an important co-enzyme. QPRT is found in bacteria, animals and some fungi. In humans it is mainly localized in the liver, kidneys, heart and adrenal glands, and greatly increased in some tumor cell lines.
Catalyzed reaction
PPi CO2
α -D -5- phosphoribosyl- 1-pyrophosphate ( PPRP ) is transmitted to quinolinate with elimination of carbon dioxide, and there is nicotinate D -ribonucleotide and diphosphate. The reaction takes place mainly in rats in the liver.
