Niderviller

Niderviller ( German Niederweiler ) is a commune with 1196 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. Niderviller is nationally known for its earthenware factory.

Geography

It lies at the foot of the Vosges, about five kilometers southeast of Sarrebourg. Due to the north of the municipal territory leads the Rhine- Marne Canal. Districts of Vieux -Moulin Niderviller are ( Altmühle ) and fallow ground.

History

The town was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War and depopulated in 1661 came to France, was 1871-1919 and for the period 1939-1945 German. The also destroyed the neighboring Upper Vill was not rebuilt and no longer exists.
