Geography
Geographical Location
Niederlangen between Papenburg and Meppen on the Ems. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde Lathen, which has its headquarters in the town of Lathen.
Neighboring communities
Neighboring municipalities are in the north, the municipality Sustrum, in the east the communities Fresenburg and Lathen, in the south the municipality Oberlangen and to the west the town of Haren.

History
The church is first mentioned in the year 1000. 1884 48 denarii have been discovered from the Roman period in Niederlangen by the farmer H. Paschen.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows geographical and topographical and historical elements of the community Niederlangen. The waves in the shield symbolize the foot location on the river Ems and the abundance of water with the reduced backwaters and ponds on the marsh ditches. Ear and cattails indicate that Niederlangen is predominantly agricultural, and that about one-third of the municipal area was marsh, which was cultivated as planned in the second third of the 20th century. It was here that in 1946 the district Niederlangen settlement. The bell is reminiscent of the multiple functions of the former school bell, which now hangs in the belfry of the village of Niederlangen. It serves as Prayer, dead, emergency and fire bell and has in some ways the character of a landmark. The bridge makes it clear that many bridges in the municipal area play an important role as a unifying transport element. This applies both to the Ems bridge, the Niederlangen with Lathen and the Federal Highway 70 connects, as well as the bridges in the Emsniederung and the three bridges that connect with the construction of the separating Emsland -Autobahn, the Altdorf with the settlement Niederlangen. The colors red and gold are the colors of coat of arms of the former imperial abbey of Corvey, the Niederlangen with the " curia Lathen " had at least since the 11th century. At the same time it is the coat of arms colors of the old diocese of Münster, whose low pin the place from 1252 until the end of the Old Kingdom in 1803 belonged.
