Geography
Niederrieden located 10 km north of Memmingen in the Danube -Iller region in central Bavaria.
Expansion of the municipal area
The municipal area consists only of the district Niederrieden.
The municipality includes the villages of Niederrieden Niederrieden, On Comthurbergen, otters forest and hamlets Niederrieden.
History
Niederrieden belonged to the imperial abbey Ottobeuren. Since the Imperial Diet of 1803 the place belonged to Bavaria.
Population Development
On the territory of the municipality were 1970 917, 1987, 1088 and 2000 counted 1,210 residents a year.
Policy
Mayor Michael Büchler ( CSU / civil union). He was elected in 2009, after he had provisionally represented its predecessors since 2008.
The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of 506 k € in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted 68 T €.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms was approved on April 17, 1963 decision of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior.
Blazon: "In two red saltire, silver leaved cattail, on a left inverted, growing, upright golden Abtstab. "
Because the district belonged to the territory of the imperial abbey Ottobeuren of the Benedictine Order to 1802, the Abtstab was chosen as a symbol. The colors silver and red indicate the kingdom pen. The bulrushes against it tie in with the basic word " eace " of the borough's name, whereby the position of the place on Ried is shown. The piston reed is a characteristic of the stagnant waters of the fen plant and is therefore traditionally been used in heraldry as a relevant subject.
The design of the coat of arms is derived from pin archivist and curator circle Aegidius Kolb and the organization took over the Nördlinger Rudolf Mussgnug.

Economy, agriculture and forestry
