Niederschlettenbach

Niederschlettenbach is a municipality in the southwest, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Dahn, which has its headquarters in the town of Dahn.

Geography

Niederschlettenbach is the Dahn Rockland and part of the Palatinate Forest Nature Park. The place is located at the confluence of Erlenbach valley in the Wieslautertal.

History

The Codex Edelini reported for 1068 through the consecration of the church of St. Lawrence in Slettenbach ( Niederschlettenbach ). An old stone tablet inscribed with the consecration of 13 May 1068 is applied immured in the old choir. A Roman stone gods "Diana" from the late 2nd or early 3rd century is walled on the east side of the tower. (Na)

During World War II, the village was severely damaged. Many old half-timbered houses were destroyed. The town is dominated by the parish church of St. Lawrence with a Gothic choir in 1220 /30 and a tower from the 14th century. On the tower is a medieval sundial.

One kilometer west of Niederschlettenbach stands the Gothic St. Anne's Chapel, built around 1400. Annual Pilgrimage on Saturday after July 26. In this chapel are the remains of Hans Trapp, the Knight of the Berwartstein († 1503).

Religion

2012 were 67.6 percent of the population Catholic and 16.2 percent Protestant. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were. Catholics belong to the diocese of Speyer, the Evangelical Lutheran Church for Protestant Palatinate.

Parish council

The local council in Niederschlettenbach consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The eight seats on the council are divided into two groups of voters.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: "Through a silver oblique wave beams, covered with a red crook, blue and green split up a silver capital letter S, below a silver -covered red church with silver edging stones, in the sign a sechsstrahliger gold star ".

It was approved in 1982 by the district government Neustadt.

Traffic

The public transport system is integrated into the transport association Rhein- Neckar ( VRN). The SüdwestBus line 548 provides the connection to the next cities ( Dahn and Bad Bergzabern ) and to white castle.

Four miles northwest of the nearest train station, Bundenthal - Rumbach is located on the Wieslauter train, the only Sundays and public holidays will be served. The nearest railway station is served daily White Castle, 13 km to the southeast. From there, the Palatine Maximilian Railway towards Neustadt lead on the wine route and SNCF to Strasbourg.

Niederschlettenbach is located five kilometers south of the national road 427 Dahn Bad Bergzabern.
