Niederwinkling is a municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Straubing-Bogen and a member of the administrative community Schwarzach.

Geography

Geographical location

The municipality is located in a border Niederwinkling terrace of the Danube Valley, the so-called low Winklinger edge bay. In addition, include foothills of the Bavarian Forest ( Which the mountain ) to do so. The community is thus between " Gaeu " ( Gäuboden ) and " woid " (Bavarian Forest). Another term for parts of the municipal area is " Heiwisch ". The municipality is part of the Planning Region Donau-Wald.

There are the districts Niederwinkling and Walt village.

History

Niederwinkling belonged to Rentamt Straubing and the district court Mitterfels of the electorate and later the Kingdom of Bavaria. The monastery of Metten had an open Hofmark here. Created in 1818, the community Niederwinkling. The competent authority for the municipality parish called contrast Oberwinkling. 1908-1910, a large parish church was built in the middle of the two places, the two villages grew largely together. As part of local government reform in the community and with Waltendorf Which mountain a part of the former municipality Pfelling was incorporated.

Which mountain is an ancient noble residence. Little remains of the old castle, a " arx perelegans in monte " ( original quote Wening ) can be found on the "Schlossberg" yet. Legal beautifully situated on a ledge of the castle hill above the Danube level, the Church of St. Mauritius is from the early Baroque period.

Incorporations

On 1 January 1971 Walt village was incorporated. On 1 January 1978 was followed by What Mountain and three other smaller hamlets of the eastern part of the former municipality Pfelling.
