Niele Toroni

Niele Toroni ( born March 19, 1937 in Muralto in Locarno ) is a Swiss artist concept of minimalism and analytical painting.

Life and work

The trained teachers left in 1959 settled in Paris to devote himself to painting. There he joined in 1966 with Daniel Buren, Michel Parmentier and (* 1938) in a community of artists together, to which a little later Olivier Mosset joined. In 1967, four group called the short-lived and only after their resolution by the critics Post Ministry ( Buren, Mosset, Parmentier, Toroni ) organized manifestations (French: demonstration, rally ) titled events, by means of the four artists their strict refusal by their art to convey a message, or elicit an emotion, as well as their radical rejection of all artistic ideology gave expression and the entire art world questioned.

Niele Toroni this conception of art remained faithful. Since the beginning of his artistic career and to this day he only paints one or more colored with the same brush model ( n ° 50 ) at regular intervals (30 cm) coated on a mostly white image support points that he empreintes (French: Footprints ) calls.
