Niellim ( autonym LWAA :) is a Bua language spoken by about 5,000 people (as of 1993), is spoken along the Chari River in Southern Chad.
It is mainly spoken in two areas: the traditional home between 9 ° 30 ' and 9 ° 50 ' N, corresponding to the former chiefdoms Pra, Niellim and Niou and further north around the city of Sarh ( where many are to most speakers migrated ).
Niellim borders several languages of different language families - especially Sara, Ndam and Laal - and is influenced by the local lingua franca, the Chadian Arabic, which has in turn displaces the former lingua franca Bagirmi. The Niellim but it also influences the Laal. It is homogeneous notabel. As a small minority group in Chad, the speaker must learn other languages in general, especially the French language and the high- Arab. Some may be as a second language but also Baguirmi, Sara and Bua.
