New Bethesda ( Afrikaans: Nieu - Bethesda ) is a small town in the municipality of Camdeboo, Cacadu District, Eastern Cape Province in South Africa. It is located 40 km from Graaff -Reinet away. 3002 the town had 1007 inhabitants; the urban area is 1.6 km wide and 3.2 km long.

The city was founded in 1875. It was named with reference to the biblical cistern Bethesda by the preacher Andrew Murray, who went with the trekboers through the Karoo. Economically, the city lives mainly on livestock. In recent years, artists have increasingly established.

Known citizens are the artist Helen Martins and Koos Malgas.

There is a museum with fossils, who grew up near James Kitching, collected.
