Nieuport-Delage Ni-D.30

The double-decker transporter Nieuport - Delage Ni -D 30Ti took in the spring of 1920 at the website maintained by Nieuport Compagnie Generale Transaerienne to use on the Paris-London route.

The pilot sat in an open cockpit behind the 350 hp ( 261 kW) Sunbeam Matabele engine, behind him the cabin for four passengers. A total of seven Ni -D 30T1 were built, flying twice daily to London and back, to a machine ( F- CGTY ) was missing in the dense fog over the English Channel on 27 April 1920. The remaining machines were then equipped with a primitive acoustically operating control system, which was developed by AW Loth. A Ni -D 30T2, a derivative of the Ni- 30T1 in sesquiplane configuration with a 420 hp (313 kW) Darraq 12A engine, took its maiden flight on 23 March 1921. During the tests, however, there were serious problems, and the development was canceled. The top speed of the Ni -D 30TL was 172 km / h; Ni -D 30T2 with up to seven passengers was only slightly slower.
