Nieuw- en Sint Joosland
Nieuw -en Sint Joosland is a village on the peninsula of Walcheren in the Dutch province of Zeeland and belongs to the municipality of Middelburg. The village has about 1300 inhabitants.

History
The place is composed of the villages of Sint Joosland and which was founded by diking of Middelburg polder village Nieuwland 1644. The place is connected with the island of Walcheren only since 1818. Until then, it was accessible from Middelburg only by ferry. The former ferry is located on the outskirts of the highway and houses a truckers cafe. While Nieuwland forms a larger center, there is the further south older Sint Joosland as " Oudedorp " only from a small street. As an independent municipality Nieuw -en Sint Joosland was formed on January 1, 1816 by combining the two communities Nieuwland and Sint Joosland. On 1 July 1966, it was incorporated into Middelburg.
