Nigel Dawes
Nigel Dawes ( born February 9, 1985 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since May 2011 Barys Astana in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career
Nigel Dawes began his professional career as a hockey player at Kootenay Ice, for which he was active from 2001 to 2005 in the Western Hockey League. With the team he won both the championship of the WHL as well as the traditional Memorial Cup in 2002. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 in the fifth round as the 149th overall player of the New York Rangers. For the farm team of Rangers from the American Hockey League, the Hartford Wolf Pack, Dawes played first in the season 2003/04. After he had spent the time the lockout in the 2004/ 05 NHL season in the WHL at Kootenay Ice, the Canadians played in the season 2005/ 06 the entire season for Hartford in the AHL.
The following season, Dawes made his debut in the National Hockey League for New York and scored a goal in eight games of the regular season. In addition, he was once in the playoffs for the Rangers on the ice. Although Dawes received significantly more ice age in the following two seasons, he was released shortly before the end of the Trade Deadline in the 2008 /09 season to the Phoenix Coyotes for which he scored to end of season two assists in twelve games.
In September 2010, Dawes signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Thrashers. The 2010/11 season, he started in the farm team for the Chicago Wolves and was called to strong performances in the American Hockey League during the season in the NHL squad the Thrashers. In February 2011, he was discharged together with Brent Sopel in exchange for Ben Maxwell and a fourth- round choice right in the NHL Entry Draft in 2011 to the Montreal Canadiens. For these links the shooter played four matches and spent the rest of the season in the farm team for the Hamilton Bulldogs, reaching with this, the Conference Finals. In the playoffs, the striker contributed 22 points scorer for the successful performance of the Bulldogs. End of May 2011, he joined together with Dustin Boyd in the Continental Hockey League to Barys Astana and signed a one-year contract.
Internationally
For Canada, Dawes took part in the U20 World Junior Championships in 2004 and 2005. He won a silver and a gold medal.
