Nigel Dawes

Nigel Dawes ( born February 9, 1985 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since May 2011 Barys Astana in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Nigel Dawes began his professional career as a hockey player at Kootenay Ice, for which he was active from 2001 to 2005 in the Western Hockey League. With the team he won both the championship of the WHL as well as the traditional Memorial Cup in 2002. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 in the fifth round as the 149th overall player of the New York Rangers. For the farm team of Rangers from the American Hockey League, the Hartford Wolf Pack, Dawes played first in the season 2003/04.
