Niger Tornadoes F.C.

Niger Tornadoes is a Nigerian football club based in Minna, Niger State. Play their home games, the club of Minna Township Stadium. So far, the Tornadoes have won the Nigerian FA Cup once. The championship success was not far.

History

The club was founded on 15 October 1970. After the introduction of the professional league, he initially played mainly in the Nigerian Amateur League, the second division in Nigeria.

In the second division season 1996, the club qualified for the Premier League. But 1997 was the season in the Nigerian House of Lords more than disappointing. At seventeen defeats they had more than three victories. Finally, only rank 17 was achieved, which was synonymous with the descent. Particularly annoying was the descent, because you just another win at number eight could climb. Between 1998 and 2001 the team was so active again in the second division of the country. Nevertheless, the club also continued from there accents in Nigerian football. Back in 1999 was the club sit up in the Cup, and reached the third place. As the then second division team in 2000 was an even bigger surprise in the competition for the Nigerian FA Cup. They sat down by the knockout rounds and the team reached on 7 October 2000 the final. In the encounter against the Enugu Rangers, the Tornadoes put a goal by Akin Ademofe 1-0. This is the biggest success in the history of the club. In the game for the Super Cup on February 18, 2001 compared Julius Berger, however, had to be beaten with 1:2 type.

In 2002, the Niger Tornadoes got off the Nigerian Amateur League to the Premier League. In the first year after the climb, it was enough to ninth place, a good midfielder rank.

47 points in the season 2004 were almost too little and the descent was very close this season. Only one more plus point at first relegated Wikki Tourists had the team. However, the team had already secured in the penultimate round in the league, because you could win 2-0 against Wikki in direct comparison. In the season of 2005 it was also very tight. The Tornadoes found themselves on the basis of four winless games early in the season early in the cellar table again. At the end ranged fifty points to create the league. It was between 16th place and only a 7 points difference of five points. 2006 did not make it to qualify for the final round of the team. Although it had only one defeat over league leaders Nasarawa United FC, although it was only enough for sixth place in Group B. In Group A of the 2007 season, the club only just scraped the descent relegation places over. Of the ten teams in the group the Tornadoes reached only in eighth place, with number nine had already led to relegation. However, it was a five-point difference the pad big enough. For 2007/ 08 the team finished fifth. This one was only four points behind champions Kano Pillars FC. The following season the club was again fifth. A total of 14 points were missing this time to square one. With eleven draw, they had only one less than league rival Enugu Rangers. Towards the later champions Bayelsa United put it on the opening day equal to a 0-4 defeat. In the return match, the team kept 3-0 the upper hand.
