Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation ( NNPC ), sometimes known as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, is a state-owned oil company of the Nigerian government.

The group was founded on April 1, 1977 by a merger of Nigerian National Oil Corporation and the Federal Ministry of Mines and Power. THe NNPC is a joint venture between the Nigerian federal government and a number of foreign multinationals, which includes the company Royal Dutch Shell, Exxon -Mobil, Agip, TotalFinaElf and Chevron.

According to the Nigerian constitution, all minerals, oil and gas reserves in the country owned by the Nigerian government.
