Nigerian pound

The Nigerian pound was 1958-1972, the Nigerian currency. By 1958, Nigeria used the West African pound, from 1959 's coins were issued. A pound was divided into 20 shillings, each of which could in turn are divided into 12 pence. The Nigerian pound was set to the value of one pound sterling; with the introduction of the decimal system on 1 January 1973, the currency of the Nigerian pound was abolished. Successor currency is the naira, which corresponds to 100 Kobo and the introduction had half the value of a former pound.

The following coins were first minted in 1959; only the coins over 1 Penny (1961) and 1 shilling (1961, 1961) were nachgeprägt. Commemorative or special coins are not known.

Bills

Nigeria led a 1958 own bills of denomination of 5 and 10 shillings and 1 and 5 pounds. 1967 and 1968 further series were printed.
