Nightingale is a Swedish progressive metal band from Örebro.

History

Dan Swanö Nightingale founded in 1995 as a small solo project in addition to his former main band Edge of Sanity, there to melodic ideas and implement rather gothic-rock -heavy tunes that did not fit the death metal style of master tape. From a short-lived love for bands like Rosetta Stone and The Sisters of Mercy was the album The Breathing Shadow, at the Black Mark Production appeared in January 1995 in one week alone.

In 1996 he took on a second album called The Closing Chronicles. He was supported by his brother Dag Swanö that due to the similarity in name to the stage name " Tom Nouga " missed themselves. Dag served as a producer and provided some guitar recordings. The Closing Chronicles was supposed to be the last album by Nightingale, which is why it took up the concept -like story of the previous album and ended by the death of the main character. The style of the album is more progressive, which led to some appearances at genre festivals like ProgPower USA in November 2001 in Atlanta.

After the publication of The Closing Chronicles in April 1996, a long pause, in which Dan Swäno dealt with his other projects arose. In April 1999, the brothers busy new project Nightingale. With I in September 2000 appeared a new album, which contained partially old material from unrealized projects and was written equally by Dan and Dag Swanö.

With the addition of Tom Björn and Erik Oskarsson in December 2000, Nightingale slowly developed into a band. With them, the fourth album Alive Again, released in February 2003 established. In June 2003, Nightingale was one of the first bands for 12 years in Cyprus, a rock concert. According to information 1000 people came to this in the national televised concert.

In October 2004, the album Invisible appeared in the winter on the 10 - year anniversary album Nightfall Overture. In the following months, Nightingale was on tour a lot, so a headlining tour of Germany took place in April 2005, with the two albums were advertised. In mid-2006, the band found a button to start the recordings for the next album again in a studio. The material came to this time entirely by Dag Swanö and was based on the style of hard rock of the 1970s. White Darkness was released on 4 June 2007.
