Nightline (student service)

The term Nightline (English, composition of night [ German: night ] and line [ German: connection, cable ] ) refers to a listening and information telephone by students for students. The goal is to be a first point of contact for colleagues who wish someone to listen to them without prejudice, if appropriate, reference to professional counseling, or simply talk to. The similar horizons of experience of assisting and calling students should provide a common basis.

The psychological background, the theory of Carl Rogers; primary goal is to support nondirektive by interviewing the caller substantially in its independent problem solving, decision making, etc., without drawing it through (possibly premature ) interpretations in a particular direction from the listener.

The idea of student nightlines originates from the UK and is widely used there. In Germany there are still in Heidelberg, Aachen, Freiburg im Breisgau, Münster, Dresden, Munich, Cologne, Karlsruhe, Konstanz, Potsdam, Tübingen and Hamburg ( there also by email) such offers. In Switzerland, can be found in Zurich a Nightline. The first nationwide German Nightline was founded in 1994 by two students of educational science at the University of Heidelberg.

Students Initiative " Nightline Münster eV " was awarded on January 9, 2009 with the Students Award 2008 of the University of Münster. The Münster listening and information telephone received endowed with 2,500 Euro prize for her volunteer work. In addition, the WWU Münster provides on its website a short video about the work of the Nightline available. 2010 qualified " Nightline Münster " in a nationwide project of startsocial. Nightline Münster was voted in the Top 25 projects and honored at the chancellery.

The charities recognized as " funding initiative nightlines Germany eV " support with their project " Nightline Foundation " Night Lines in Germany and tries to forge a network. It provides start-ups a starter kit available that helps the financial means for the first employee training to apply and provides support for organizational problems.
