Nigrosin

Nigrosines are a group of blue-black dyes. Nigrosines are derivatives of phenazine and are among the indamine dyes.

Production

Nigrosine obtained by heating nitrobenzene, aniline, and aniline hydrochloride with iron metal and iron ( III) chloride.

Use

Nigrosines were in the wool dyeing and printing when wool, used for black dyeing silk, dyeing of leather, shoe polishes, varnishes, plastics, baking finishes, stationery ink, stamp inks and dyes as microscopy. Today, however, they no longer play a role.
