Nii Lamptey

Nii Lamptey Odartey ( born December 10, 1974 in Accra, Ghana) is a Ghanaian football player.

It was in 1991 part of the Ghanaian team, the U17 world champion in Italy. In this tournament, he was one of the scorers and was also honored as the best player with the Golden Ball.

Already with 16 years as a professional Lamptey played for RSC Anderlecht in Belgium and was considered one of the greatest talents in the history of football. He changed due to a consultant dependence but often the club, first to Aston Villa, and played all over Europe, but could never quite live up to expectations and was already mid-20s at the end of his career. For the most part, the failures are to push on greedy consultants and psychological problems after the death of his children. He also played in Argentina for SpVgg Greuther Fürth and in China. In 2005 he signed a contract with Asante Kotoko. In the same year he founded a school for 240 children. In March 2007 he moved once more, this time to the South African Premier League club Jomo Cosmos.

His younger brother Nathaniel Lamptey played at Karlsruher SC and in 1999 participants of the U- 17 World Cup in New Zealand.
