Nijel Amos

Nijel Amos (born 15 March 1994 Marobela ) is a botswanischer middle-distance runner. His best discipline is the 800 -meter run.

The Botswaner was third on 800 m at the African Junior Championships in 2011. In June 2012, he improved in Mannheim with 1:43,11 minutes to Botswana's record over 800 m. It was also the second-fastest time ever ran a teenager. At the Junior World Championships in 2012, Amos won gold over the same distance, setting a new championship record.

Sensational Olympic silver in 2012

Nijel Amos was a member of the Botswana Olympic Team for the 2012 Summer Games in London, where she won the 800 meters with a silver medal behind Olympic champion and world record holder David Rudisha Lekuta the first Olympic medal for his country Botswana.

He thereby undercutting in 1:41.73 ( junior world record) with only 18 years as the youngest and only as fifth runner at all the time of 1:42 minutes in the 800 meters.
