Nikaah (Arabic نكاح ( Nikah ), Arabic word for Islamic marriage ) is a successful Bollywood film, which criticizes the use of Islamic law of divorce. The film was a blockbuster in India.

Action

Haider and Nilofar study at the same college. He is secretly in love with her, but knows nothing of her love for Wasim. After college Haider is the editor of a successful magazine. Meanwhile, Nilofar has married to Wasim.

They spend their honeymoon in Bombay, but unlike yourself Nilofar had imagined. Instead all the time to spend with Nilofar, Wasim is more concerned with business matters. Even at home Wasim comes later and later from work. The situation comes to a head as Wasim itself comes too late in its anniversary celebration, so that the guests have gone angry again. Wasim is acidic and pushes all the blame on his wife. During his Wutausbruchs he is divorcing with immediate effect by Nilofar.

Nilofar is devastated. You will not be accepted by society as a divorced woman and so has difficulty finding a job. Only with Haider, who still loves her, she's lucky and will also be treated with respect. Soon, she falls in love with him and is willing to marry him.

Meanwhile, Wasim regretted the divorce and wants Nilofar win back. According to Islamic law, he may Nilofar only remarry if her second marriage is also divorced. Thus he writes her a letter and asks them to leave Haider to return with him to try a reboot.

But Nilofar has no intention, Haider, who adores and fulfills every desire to leave. When this letter gets accidentally in Haider's hands, believes that both were still in love. Since he did not want to come between their love, he makes her a surprise on her birthday gift. In the evening, the doorbell rings and Nilofar believes Haider is back from work. Instead, Wasim is on the doorstep. After an emotional confrontation Nilofar Haider makes it clear that she no longer wants to have Wasim after this humiliation and begging him not to leave even to them. Wasim himself sees his mistake and do not want to be the reason for their separation and so he reconciles the two again.
