Niki Xanthou

Niki Xanthou (Greek Νίκη Ξάνθου, pronunciation: [ nici ksanθu ], born October 11, 1973 in Rhodes ) is a former Greek long jumper.

In her career Xanthou presented to a total of nine national records in the long jump. In 1996 she succeeded for the first time jump over the 7 -meter mark.

At the World Athletics Championships 1997 in Athens Xanthou won the silver medal, as they deal with only 6.94 m of Russian Lyudmila Galkina (7.05 m) was defeated. In the same year she won with 6.72 m the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Bari. Also victorious in their specialized discipline Xanthou was at the Indoor Athletics Championships 2002 in Vienna.

Xanthou participated in three Summer Olympics, in part: (1996 in Athens, she finished fourth with 6.97 meters, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 she divorced in the qualifier ). The games in Athens were her last appearance at major international events.

Niki Xanthou is 1,74 m tall and weighed about 62 kg competition times. The marriage with her trainer Dimitrios Chatzopoulos divorced.
