Nikita Nikitin

Nikita Alexandrovich Nikitin (Russian: Никита Александрович Никитин; * June 16, 1986 in Omsk, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player standing since November 2011 at the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League contract.

Due to the NHL lockout Nikitin plays since September 2012 for the HK Avangard Omsk in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Career

Nikita Nikitin began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth of HK Avangard Omsk, for the first team he made his debut was in the 2003/04 season in the Russian Super League, where he came in only one game for use in this season. The rest of the season he spent as well as the year in which the second team in the third-class Perwaja league. In addition, the Russian was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 in the fifth round as the 136th overall player of the St. Louis Blues. At European level, the defender won with Avangard 2005 IIHF European Champions Cup. In the final, the left gunner sat by his team against Kärpät Oulu in the Finnish SM- liiga.

In the 2005/06 season with Omsk Nikitin was runner-up, after they lost in the finals Ak Bars Kazan. From the 2008/ 09 season was Nikitin for Avangard in the newly formed Kontinental Hockey League on the ice. In June 2010 he signed a contract with the St. Louis Blues. After Nikitin had started the 2010/11 season in the NHL squad the Blues and had come in 13 NHL games for use, he was then sent to the farm team to the Peoria Rivermen.

In November 2011, Nikitin was swapped Kris Russell from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Internationally

For Russia Nikitin took part in the U20 Junior World Cup in 2006, where he took second place with his team.
