Nikita Zaitsev

Nikita Igorewitsch Zaitsev (Russian: Никита Игоревич Зайцев; born 29 October 1991 in Moscow, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is under contract with HK CSKA Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League since May 2013.

Career

Nikita Zaitsev began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Krylia Sovetov Moscow, where he was active until 2009. In KHL Junior Draft 2009, the defender was selected in the first round as a whole fourth player from HK Sibir Novosibirsk, for which he gave in the 2009/10 season his debut in the Kontinental Hockey League newly established. In his rookie year he gave one assist in 40 games.

In the 2012/13 season he achieved his breakthrough in the KHL when he collected a total 19 points scorer during the season, and thus the interest of other clubs aroused. On 1 May 2013, was exchanged for Igor Oschiganow and Dmitri Kugryschew from HK CSKA Moscow. In addition, the HK Sibir received financial compensation payment.

Internationally

For Russia Zaitsev participated in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2009, as well as the U20 World Youth Championship, 2010. In the 2009 U18 World Championships, he won the silver medal with his team.
