Niklas Meinert

Niklas Meinert (born 1 May 1981 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German hockey player who was 2006 World champion and 2008 Olympic gold medalist.

Niklas Meinert started at VfL Bad Kreuznach with the sport of hockey, where he was coached by his father. 2000 and 2005, Meinert with the Dürkheimer HC German indoor champion; 2001 and 2006 he won the European Champions Cup in the hall. Meinert also played already at the Munich SC, at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid and the HTC Stuttgarter Kickers. Currently Meinert plays for the Mannheimer HC.

2003 debuted the defense and midfield in the German national hockey team. His first international medal he won in 2005 as third in the European Championship. 2006 Meinert was there when the German team successfully defended the title in 2002 at the World Championships in Mönchengladbach. In 2007 he won at the World Indoor Championships in Vienna and won in the FIH Champions Trophy. 23 August 2008 Niklas Meinert was the template to make it 1-0 winning goal in the final match of the Beijing Olympics to Christopher Zeller, whereby the German hockey team won the gold medal.

Niklas Meinert has completed 130 international matches, including 7 in the hall. (As of 21 July 2008)
