Niklas Rainer

Niklas Rainer ( born May 9, 1983 in Falun ) is a Swedish alpine skier. It starts in all disciplines, drove to 2010 in the World and European Cup and reached his best results in the Giant Slalom and in the combination.

Career

Rainer drove his first FIS race in January 1999, first start in the European Cup was followed in December 2001. Between 2002 and 2003 he took part in the Junior World Championships and reached the best results in ninth place in the Super G and the tenth place in the slalom 2003rd in 2003 he was Swedish Junior Champion in slalom. In the European Cup he on 5 December 2003 in the giant slalom Ål surprising to sixth place, before he could have never finished in the top 30 there. However, this result he could not repeat the time being, until end of the season he came a second time in the top ten.

In January and February 2004, Rainer had his first stakes in the World Cup, but qualified in any race for the second pass. This changed in the 2004/05 season, when he surprisingly came eleventh in the giant slalom in Val d'Isere on December 12. In the European Cup him in this season of the breakthrough to the top. He celebrated two giant slalom victories, achieved a further two podiums and finished third in the final standings in fifth in the giant slalom and seventh in the overall standings. In February, he started at the 2005 World Championships in Bormio and reached the 14th place in the giant slalom, in April he won his first Swedish champion in Giant Slalom and Parallel Slalom.

In the World Cup season 2005/ 06 Rainer met three times in the points, in the European Cup, he could not repeat last year's performance and achieved only once the podium. At the beginning of the 2006/07 season he drove in the World Cup for the first time in the top ten. In the super combined of Beaver Creek on November 30th he came to ninth, two weeks later he reached in the Super Combined at the Reiteralm even seventh place - his best result. He finished at the 2007 World Championships in Åre, Sweden as two years before the 14th place in the giant slalom and was established in March of the same year for the second time the Swedish championship in the giant slalom.

In the coming years the Swede reached only a few good rankings in the World Cup. In the 2007 /08 season was his best result of 13th in the classic combination of Kitzbühel, 2008/ 09 he came in the Super Combined in Wengen to 14th and in the 2009/10 season was the 16th place in the super combined in Val d'Isere his best result. Also in the European Rainer reached in these years only a few top places. In his last major event, the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isère, he finished second in the Super Combined course 16 in the DH 20th place and 24th place in the giant slalom

After the 2009/10 season Rainer came so far no further World Cup or European Cup inserts. But in FIS races and the Swedish Championships he continues to participate. In the 2011 Universiade in Erzurum, he was fifth in the giant slalom.
