Niklaus Bütler

Niklaus Bütler ( born October 28, 1786 in Auw, Canton Aargau, † November 14, 1864 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss painter.

Short Biography

Niklaus Bütler received his artistic training at the painters Wüest and Huber in Zurich. He married Anna Maria Trutmann of Küssnacht where the impoverished family in 1820 and moved into its new residence. With the hope of a better life in 1839 he moved with his family to Lucerne. In his teaching and his two sons, Anton and Joseph Niklaus Bütler Bütler went. His work includes church pictures, historical scenes, theater scenes, portraits and furniture. It is known to be momuentales canvas painting Gessler's death, which he created in 1834 for the Tell Chapel in Küssnacht.
