Nikolai Minsky

Nikolai Maximowitsch Minski (Russian Николай Максимович Минский, actually Nikolai Maximowitsch Wilenkin; * Januarjul 15 / 27 January 1855greg in Hlybokaje, Belarus, .. † July 2, 1937 in Paris) was a mystical writer and poet of the Silver Age of Russian Literature. He was of Jewish origin.

Minski sympathized with the Russian Revolution and the Socialists. With his radical emphasis on the artistic individualism he exercised great influence on the Russian Symbolists. The well-known Russian painter Ilya Repin has Minski in his " refusal of confession before his execution " (1879-1885) immortalized - on a cot in jail, before him the helpless priest. It was alleged that his words like: " Forgive me, that I like brothers loved the poor and hungry ." ( State Tretyakov Gallery Moscow, Inv. No. 774 ) was acquired in 1892 by Minski even in St. Petersburg.
