Nikolaos Platon

Nikolaos Platon ( born January 8, 1909 Kefalonia, † March 28, 1992 in Athens ) was a Greek archaeologist and excavator of the Minoan palace of Kato Zakros in Crete. He studied at the University of Athens. One of his great achievements in the field of archeology has been to establish a second relative chronology of the Minoan civilization. In contrast to Evans ' chronological system that is based on the stratigraphy at Knossos, based his 1958 established chronology exclusively to the construction and destruction phases of the Minoan palaces, divided into pre- ( Prae ), Alt ( proto- ), New ( Neo - ) and after ( post-) palace time ( palatikum ).
