Nikolaus Ott

Niko Ott ( born July 9, 1945 in Konstanz ) is a retired German rower.

1967 Niko Ott was with Peter Berger German champion in pairs with coxswain. In the pre-Olympic regatta in Mexico City, he sat on the winning coxed four and eight.

At the Olympic Games in 1968, he joined in the coxed four along with Peter Berger, Udo Brecht, Hans- Johann Färber and helmsman Stefan Armbruster. As a fifth of the first semi-final, the team failed to qualify for the final. For small final one came not because two rowers were ill.

The supervised by Karl Adam Aft Germany, however, had confidently qualified for the finals. But even here there was a failure, because Roland Boese was ill and could not compete in the final. For him, Niko Ott was placed in the eighth and won with the replacement of eight gold before the teams from Australia and from the Soviet Union. Niko Ott donated his gold medal after the award ceremony Roland Boese. The German NOK then tried with the support of the IOC to recognition. For Niko Ott a medal was nachgeprägt, which was presented to him solemnly in Frankfurt.
