Nikolay Kovalev (fencer)

Nikolai Kovalyov Anatoljevich (Russian Николай Анатольевич Ковалёв; born October 28, 1986 in Orenburg ) is a Russian saber fencer.

Achievements

Kovalev won in 2006 both at the European Championships in Izmir as well as at the World Championships in Turin bronze with the team, in 2007 he was in Ghent team European champion. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing Kovalev finished with the saber team to fourth place in the individual and the 26th place.

At the World Championships 2010 in Paris, the 2011 World Championships in Catania and the European Championships 2012 in Legnano he won gold with the team at the 2011 European Championships in Sheffield it was bronze with the team.

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012, he lost in the semifinals to eventual Olympic champion Áron Szilágyi 7:15, but won the battle for the bronze medal against Rareş Dumitrescu 15:10. With the team, it was the fourth place.

2013 won Kovalev at the European Championships in Zagreb bronze after losing in the semifinals to eventual champion Tiberiu Dolniceanu and at the World Championships in Budapest silver behind compatriot Veniamin Reshetnikov.
