Nikolay Saksonov

Nikolai Nikolayevich Saksonow (Russian Николай Николаевич Саксонов; born January 6, 1923 in Seryoga, today Rajon Kungur, Perm region, † November 2, 2011 in a suburb of Elektrougli ) was a Soviet weightlifter.

Life

Nikolai Saksonow grew up in Sverdlovsk and began seventeen years ago at a local sports club with the weight lifting. His first coach was Ivan Lebedev. 1947 Saksonow reached 270 kg in the Olympic triathlon. A year later there were 300 kg. As a model it was Georgi Popov, who had already set up during the war world records in the featherweight, which could, however, by the World Association not be accepted, since the Soviet Union at that time did not belong to the association. Saksonow first time in 1949 won the Russian Championship and then took part in international competitions. His coaches were Nikolai shatov, Israel mechanics and Yakov Kuzenko.

Nikolai Saksonow studied medicine and worked after the end of his active career as a doctor and trainer.
