Nikolay Zimyatov

Nikolai Semenovich Simjatow (Russian Николай Семёнович Зимятов; born June 28, 1955 in Rumjanzewo, Moscow Oblast ) is a former Russian cross-country skier who competed for the Soviet Union.

Simjatow won a total of four Olympic gold medals. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1980, he became both the 30 km and 50 km and with the relay Olympic champion. Previously, no one had achieved this performance. Four years later he won the 30 km free style another gold medal.

In the 1978 World Cup, he finished second over 30 kilometers. Since the cross-country competitions for the last time at the same time had the status of a world championship at the Winter Games in 1980, Simjatow 1980 world champion over 30 km and 50 km in the classical technique.

Away from the Olympic Games Simjatow could only win a World Cup race, in December 1983, a 15- kilometer run in Reit im Winkl. In 1984 he was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples.
