Nikos Karvelas

Nikos Karvelas (Greek Νίκος Καρβέλας; born September 8, 1951 in Piraeus) is a Greek pop singer and songwriter.

Life

Nikos Karvelas began at age five, playing the piano, and made as a child first compositional attempts to walk. While studying law at the University of Athens, he formed a rock group. Under the influence of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, he published in the late 1970s, his first songs, both under his real name and under the pseudonym Nikos Leonardos ( Νίκος Λεονάρδος ).

For his first wife Anna Vissi he wrote in the 1980s, 1990s, many songs and pieces, with which they became famous, including contributions for the Grand Prix Euro Vision Song Contest. Particularly successful he is next as a musical composer; 2002, his piece Μάλα. Η μουσική του ανέμου ( Mala. The music of the wind ) Release which deals with the fate of Mala Zimetbaum. His music stylistically vacillates between pop, rock and Greek folk music. In Greece, he is one of the most popular and most successful songwriter.

Private life

From 1983 to 2003 he was married to the Greek Madonna 'Anna Vissi. Their daughter Sophia is an actress today. During the nineties he lived a long time in London. Since 2006 he has been romantically involved with the Greek TV presenter Anita Pania, with whom he has a son.
