Nil (cigarette)

Nile is a brand of Japan Tobacco related to Austria Tabak (former Austrian Tobacco Monopoly ). She is one of the oldest remaining in the Austrian and German markets brands of cigarettes.

The Nile brand cigarettes manufactured since 1901 as a so-called Orient cigarettes and were very popular especially among artists. For example, smoked Otto Dix Nile. By the end of the 1920s they contained, like most Oriental cigarettes, cannabis ( 8%). In addition to the classic, unfiltered Nile, with the characteristic oval cross-section was a 1957 version of the filter cigarette on the market, which was available until 1976. Since 1998, the brand of Austria Tabak was realigned again and heavily advertised. To filter cigarette restored soon came a light brand and a fine-cut tobacco. The product launch was specified, NIL is the oldest manufactured brand on the German market, although there were earlier marks and still are. Currently NIL NIL is available (blue, medium strength ) and NIL - Weiss ( lights ). Nile fine cut can be bought only in Austria, its sales in Germany was stopped after a short time. The production of the classic, unfiltered Nile pure oriental tobacco was set at the turn of 2003/2004 due to Europe's new inkrafttretender restrictions on tar and nicotine yields. In early 2011 the expiry of the brand NIL was posted in Austria. In Germany Nile is blue and white more available.

The logo of the NIL - cigarette consists of a blue rectangle in the lettering of the NIL is set in white capital letters, also crowned by a white eagle with respect to acquiring the former tobacco monopoly company names DIRECTOR.
