Nils Engdahl

Nils Engdahl (* November 4, 1898 in Västerhaninge, † September 10, 1983 in Stockholm) was a Swedish athlete who was successful in the early 1920s. He started all three sprint distances: 100 m, 200 m and 400 m.

The 1.65 m wide and 57 -kg athlete competed for Järva Idrottssällskap.

He was married to the swimmer Signe Johansson.

Career

Nils Engdahl won 1918-1927 a total of sixteen national championships:

He participated in two Olympic Games with medal success in part.

  • 400 m: Although he was excellent 48.6 seconds and undercutting his period of four years by more than a second before, he had to finish the competition in sixth and the last of his semi-final run.
  • 4x 100 m: The squadron, ran in second position in the Engdahl, also came only to the semifinals.

Engdahl's best time over 100 m is given as 10.7 sec (1920 ) and over 800 m with 1:57,5 min (1920).
