Nils Johan Andersson

Nils Johan Andersson ( born February 20, 1821 Gärdserum parish, community Åtvidaberg, † March 27, 1880 in Stockholm) was a Swedish botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Andersson ".

Life

Andersson 1846 lecturer of botany at Uppsala University in 1847 and taught at the elementary school in Stockholm. He escorted from 1851 to 1853 as a botanist the Erdumsegelung the Swedish frigate Eugenie and 1855 Adjunct and botanical demonstrator at Lund University, 1856 Professor and director of the botanical collections of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences as well as a teacher at the Bergianischen Garden School in Stockholm appointed. In 1857 he was elected a member of the Scholars Academy Leopoldina.

Ehrentaxton

To him, the genus Anderssoniopiper from the plant family of pepper plants ( Piperaceae ) was named in honor.
