Nimbus Roman No9 L

Nimbus Roman No9 L is a serif font that is similar to Times New Roman font. It was created in 1987 by URW , and finally released in 1996 under the GNU General Public License and the Aladdin Free Public License (as Type 1 font for Ghostscript ). In 2009, the release under the LaTeX Project Public License occurred. The font has the font styles Normal, Bold, Italic, and Bold Italic and is one of several free from URW fonts licensed.

The metrics of Nimbus Roman No. 9 L are almost identical to those of Times and Times New Roman, although differ the characters of both fonts. The font is one of the Ghostscript fonts and so a free alternative to the 35 PostScript core fonts.

Nimbus Roman No9 L is a default font in many GNU / Linux distributions. So used, for example, Ubuntu up to version 8.10 and earlier versions of OpenOffice.org that font as the default font.
