Nina Zhuk

Nina Alexeyevna Shuk, born Bakuschewa (Russian Нина Алексеевна Жук; born July 6, 1934, Savino, Rajon Uglich, Yaroslavl Oblast ) is a former Russian figure skater, which was launched in pair skating for the Soviet Union.

She went to the side of her husband Stanislaw Shuk pair skating. With him it was from 1957 to 1959 and 1961 Soviet pairs figure skating champion. In 1958 she was in Bratislava European vice-champion behind the Czechoslovaks Věra Suchánková and Zdenek Dolezal. It was the first medal for the Soviet Union at European Figure Skating Championships and the beginning of a long and successful tradition of Soviet figure skaters, particularly in pair skating. 1959 and 1960 were again the Schuks Vice-European Champion, both times behind Marika Kilius and Hans -Jürgen Baumler. At World Championships they occurred only twice, her best result was the fifth place at the World Cup 1960. Their only Olympics they finished 1960 in Squaw Valley in sixth place.

Nina Zhuk is the sister of Olympic runner-up in pair skating in 1968, Tatyana Zhuk.
