Ninian Sanderson

Ninian Sanderson ( born May 14, 1925 in Glasgow, † 1 October 1985) was a British racing driver.

Ninian Sanderson, a car dealer from Glasgow, started in the early 1950s with motorsport. For now, in the Formula 3 active, he came over the mountain race to sports car racing. He was works driver in the Ecurie Ecosse and celebrated with the overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1956 his greatest success in motorsport. His team-mate in the Jaguar D-Type Ecurie Ecosse was the his Scottish compatriot Ron Flockhart. In 1957 he was second in Le Mans, this time Jack Lawrence was his partner.

Sanderson, who died of cancer in 1985, was known for his practical jokes and infamous. So once he stuffed a firecracker in the exhaust of the D-Type Jaguars from Flockhart when he tried to leave the pit lane at Aintree for a qualifying round. The fireworks exploded with a loud bang, Flockhart jumped out of the car and behind the pit wall, there was laughter at Sanderson and mechanics.
