Ninlil

Ninlil, dNÍN.LIL, Mulliltu, Mulliššu (Lady of the air / wind ) is a goddess of Sumerian and later the Akkadian, Babylonian and Assyrian religion.

Family

Ninlil was the wife of Enlil and the mother of Nanna, Nergal and Išum, the exposed them on the road. First Ninlil was one of the mother deity subordinate figures, later named alongside this. She received a higher profile than they emerged as intercessors with Enlil. As Enlil was identified in Assyrian times with Ashur, Ishtar Ninlil was next to his wife or daughter or was identified with Ishtar.

Temple

The Ešarra Temple of Ashur Ashur also possessed cult in districts for Ninlil. The temple was excavated by the German Oriental Society in 1903.
