Ninon Colneric

Ninon Colneric ( born August 29, 1948 in Oer- Erkenschwick ) is a German legal scholar and former judge at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

Colneric studied law in Tübingen, Munich and Geneva. During a research stay 1974/75, she met Bill Wedderburn know, a student of Otto Kahn-Freund. For her PhD, she was awarded by the University of Munich Faculty Award.

After that she worked as a judge at the Labour Court Oldenburg and completed his habilitation at the University of Bremen with the Venia legendi for the fields of labor law, sociology and social law. In 1989 she became President of the Higher Labour Court Schleswig -Holstein, later honorary professor at the University of Bremen for the field of " labor law, with special emphasis on European labor law."

From 15 July 2000 to 6 October 2006 she was chosen by the then red - green federal government to judge at the European Court of Justice. She was the first German woman in this facility. Its mandate was not renewed for reasons of political proportional representation, the force as an economic liberal Cologne Law Professor Thomas von Danwitz was instead sent.

Then she was co- dean of the China-EU School of Law, a collaborative project between European universities and the China University of Political Science and Law.
