Nintendo DS & DSi Browser

The Nintendo DS Browser is a customized to the Nintendo DS version of the web browser Opera. This fee-based program, it is possible to use the Internet with the wireless LAN capabilities of the Nintendo DS. However, neither Flash nor Java content are supported. Since the internal memory of the Nintendo DS is not sufficient with 4 megabytes for downloading web pages, the browser is settled a so-called "Memory Expansion Pack ", which expands the system's memory to 10 megabytes.

The browser was released in Japan on 24 July 2006, in Europe on 6 October 2006 and on 8 June 2007 in the USA.

There is a version for the normal Nintendo DS and the Nintendo DS Lite, which differ in the design of the "Memory Expansion Pack ". The version of the browser user-agent string in accordance with 8.5.

For the Nintendo DSi browser under the name "Nintendo DS Browser " is available for free in the DSi shop, a "Memory Expansion Pack " is not required. The version for the DSi uses the Opera Presto 9.5 engine. Also on the Nintendo 3DS, a browser can be downloaded, however, these are no longer an Opera browser, but the NetFront browser from Access, which was developed specifically for mobile devices.
