Nir Alon

Nir Alon (Hebrew ניר אלון; * 1964 ) is an Israeli sculptor and installation artist.

Alon studied from 1988 to 1992 at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, and was there until 1993 assistant. In 1996 he received the Award for Young Artist of the Israeli Ministry of Education and Culture. In 1998, he was able to participate in an exchange exhibition in Hamburg, 2001, he received a scholarship as a guest artist in Harburg. Since then, he lives and works in Hamburg, where he teaches at the University of Applied Sciences in the Department of Design. He has had solo exhibitions in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Schwerin, Bonn, Mannheim, Frankfurt and Hamburg ( Kamp Nagel 2005).

His sculptures he developed preferably from discarded everyday objects such as furniture, suitcases, lamps, bulbs and cables, the installations are assembled directly at the exhibition and in relation to this. So he made ​​a haunting effect with the simplest means.

His works are in museums and private collections in Germany, Israel, Italy and the USA.
