The Nishi- Funabashi Station (Japanese西 船 桥 駅, Nishi- Funabashi -eki, dt Station West Funabashi ) is located in the city of Funabashi in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. On -web spiders of the Tokyo Metro station is numbered T- 23 for the Tozai Line.

History

On November 10, 1958, the station of the Japanese National Railways was opened for the Chūō - sobu line. On December 15, 1968, the station operation was moved to a newly built-up area. On March 29, 1969 for the first time holding a train at the station of the Tozai Line and the Tokyo Metro here starts operations. On April 8, 1969, the freight operation is started and set back to November 1, 1986 at the station also. After an extension of the railway station from the passage to the tower station on October 2, 1978 for the first time a train stops at the Musashino Line to the other tracks crossing platforms 9 and 10 (now 11 and 12). According to a further expansion of the station hold since March 3, 1986 also features the Keiyo Line, although mainly at the weekend to as a feeder for the Tokyo Disney Resort and the Stadium of the Chiba Lotte Marines to serve at home games. On 27 April 1996, the high-speed railway line of Toyo Kosoku is opened and is bound to Tozai Line. A recent major renovation will be completed at the station with the opening of dila Nishifunabashi, branch of a JR East 's department store chain, on 15 January 2005.

Design and tracks

Originally the station was built as a through station for the Chūō - sobu line. After an additional construction of the station was remodeled in 1978 to the tower station, since then crosses the Musashino Line ( later the Keiyo Line) on the Chūō - sobu and Tozai Line and the Toyo Kosoku commuter train. The station has a total of 10 platform tracks, which are spread over a total of 11 platforms. The discrepancy arises from a coming for Sobu line for application Spanish solution for trains which terminate or start in Nishi- Funabashi.

On the lower levels, respectively, the three tracks of the Chūō - sobu - line and run directly south to east-west direction thereof, the three tracks of the Tokyo Metro and Toyo Kosoku trains that share the tracks. On the upper level run the 4 tracks of the Musashino and Keiyo Line in north-south direction. The concourse and track access is located between the two track levels.

Environment

Approximately 400m north of the station is the station Nishi- Funa the main line of Keisei Dentetsu. In addition, located about 1,700 m north of the Nakayama Racecourse. Both stations serve as the main feeder access by public transport.

Use

In 2008, the JR station from an average of 125 785 passengers was used on the day, so that the rank 23 took over 900 on the ranking of the busiest train stations of JR East in 2008. The Tozai Line was used by an average of 278 117 passengers a day. The Toyo Kosoku rapid transit have used in 2007 on average 51,700 passengers a day.
