Model history

In addition to new approaches in the shape of the headlights, the designers also have retro elements built into the body of the 370Z (side window line ), reminiscent of the automobile ancestor Nissan 240Z. The old 3.5-liter V6 engine from the 350Z was replaced by a 3.7-liter V6 engine with VVEL system ( Variable Valve Event and Lift ). The VVEL system improved by adjusting the valve and the valve timing the passage over the entire speed range. The 370Z has a short- tuned 6- speed manual transmission with a drive shaft made of carbon fiber composite material and a so-called VSLD - slip differential ( VSLD stands for " Viscous Limited Slip Differential " ), which limits the speed differential on the rear wheels. Optionally, the 370Z is also available with a 7-speed automatic transmission. In this version, the driver receives additional shift paddles on the steering wheel and with the so-called " Downshift Rev Matching " technique an electronic system that automatically gives the engine while downshifting. The top versions of the Z coupes contain another electronic system, the so-called " Synchro Rev Control". This system automatically adjusts the engine speed when shifting.

The 370Z is equipped as standard with Nissan's Vehicle Dynamic Control system. The wheelbase was shortened by about 10 cm and in the course of various measures for the lightweight body, the manufacturer promises better handling than the previous model. The suspension consists of double wishbones at the front and a rear multi-link axle.
