Nissan is with a length of 200 km one of the longer rivers in southern Sweden.

The river rises a moor south of Jönköping and has at the beginning of a northwest flow direction. He then turns to the southwest and flows through Småland and Halland, until it empties in Halmstad in the Kattegat. Riverside several industrial plants that took the waters its yield force emerged. For anglers, salmon and trout of the river of importance.

Along the Nissan pulls an old trade route, which was formerly called Nissastigen and today the name Riksväg is 25. Since 1877 there is also a railway line from Halmstad to Värnamo that follows the river in the southern part.
